STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Take your training to the next level with Strength & Conditioning
To excel at a sport or tactical career, specific training styles need to be practiced frequently, and must include exercises more complex than typically seen in a gym environment. The team at Body Smart Health & Fitness will create an individualized program for your unique needs, so you can fine-tune your skills and maintain peak performance.

Tactical Athlete Training
Being able to maintain speed, agility, accuracy, stamina and strength in a variety of environments – often stressful or life-threatening ones – is what separates tactical athletes from the rest. Keeping up peak performance in unsafe and unfamiliar conditions can mean the difference between life and death for this niche group of athletes. Navy SEALs, police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and all military personnel need to maintain optimal physical and mental function for extended periods of time, and this requirement demands specific and vigorous training to ensure success and survival. There are five main types of tactical athletes: green for land-based; blue for potential water situations; grey for urban-based personnel; black for law enforcement; and red for fire and rescue. Each type requires different training styles in order to perform their duties, and standard fitness programs are not sufficient enough to meet their needs.
This is for you if…
- You are specifically training for a career requiring tactical fitness
- You are interested in becoming a tactical athlete and wish to try this style of training
When you book an appointment at Body Smart Health & Fitness, we will match you with one of our experts that is best suited for your needs. They will perform a thorough assessment to identify key areas for improvement and design an individualized program based on your current fitness level. They will explain and demonstrate each exercise for you so that you can safely and effectively improve your fitness level. If required, nutritional needs will be addressed as well in order to optimize your health and achieve your goals faster.

Team Sport Training
Engaging in physical activity as part of a team sport has rewards distinct from individual training. Social skills can be developed, and rates of body dissatisfaction, anxiety and depression are reduced. The training style required for team sports is also different, due to the involvement of other people and the nature of the sport. Movement and directional changes, slowing down, speeding up, coordination, and defensive skills are required for an hour or more at a time, and one weaker player can result in a team loss. To excel at a sport, specific training styles need to be practiced frequently, and must include exercises more complex than typically seen in a gym environment. The help of a trainer outside of game and practice times will help to improve a player’s weak points, and will fine-tune their skills for future games.
This is for you if…
- You participate in, coach, or manage a team sport

Sport Performance
Training for a sport is different from training for general health and fitness. Biomechanical function, self-esteem, mental well-being, injury prevention, and sport-specific skills are integral to achieving a high degree of sport performance. Sport performance training is objectifiable and measurable, whether that means helping your team win a hockey game, jumping higher, or shaving time off your half-marathon. There is a desired end goal with sport performance training that separates it from generalized workout programs, and a professional trainer will be able to design a program tailored to your specific sport and current fitness level.

Dry Land Training
Swimmers and hockey players, for example, don’t always have access to pools or ice rinks to practice their athletic skills. Dry land training, therefore, includes any exercises or drills done in a gym or field that are designed to replicate or improve the actual performance of the sport. This type of training is also ideal for preventing injuries, improving weak areas, and correcting imbalances that typically occur as a result of the sport.
This is for you if…
- You participate in sports or activities that take place in water, on ice, or other terrain
- You have limited access to pools, ice rinks or other terrains to train on
