Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine

At Body Smart, we take an innovative approach in ensuring we continue to deliver health and fitness in our community. Acupuncture is performed by our licensed Acupuncturist and is one facet of Traditional Chinese Medicine we use to treat several conditions.

For over 3000 years, this therapeutic technique has been safely and effectively used to restore balance and health in a non-invasive manner. It originated in China as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been implemented all over the world as a therapy to help people get out of pain and stay out of pain.

Along with acupuncture, our TCM practitioner also uses both wet and dry cupping as well as Tui Na massage to treat clients. Cupping therapy involves the use of suction cups placed on the skin to create suction. The suction increases blood circulation at the point of the injury and the increased circulation reduces tension and spasms, and can promote cell repair through improved blood flow.

Tui Na is a traditional Chinese massage technique that involves pressing, rubbing, kneading, and pinching to bring your body back in balance. The technique is applied to the channels, collaterals and points of the acupuncture system.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an age-old healing practice of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are placed at specific points in the body. It’s primarily used to relieve pain but is also used to treat several other conditions.
Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe the human body has more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected by pathways or meridians. These pathways create an energy through the body that is responsible for overall health. Disruption of the energy flow can cause disease. By applying acupuncture to certain points, it is thought to improve the flow of energy, thereby improving health.

Cupping

Cupping therapy involves the use of suction cups placed on the skin to create suction. The suction increases blood circulation at the point of the injury and the increased circulation reduces tension and spasms, and can promote cell repair through improved blood flow.
