The Body Smart Health Team

Anton Kurniawan, RMT

Anton is available at Body Smart Health:

Tues and Thurs: 2:30 pm – 8 pm
Wed, Fri, and Sat: 8 am – 1:30 pm

“I have crossed paths with a variety of people from all walks of life, continents, and occupations. One common problem I have noticed as a RMT in my travels, playing on the basketball court, or at the local mall is the tendency for our bodies to unknowingly compensate for a root cause issue that may have been caused by an injury or posture strain from last week, five months ago, or long ago. I firmly believe that our body has the ability to restore itself back to its natural health and state. As a RMT, I want to help people attain and sustain their optimal and active healthy lifestyle.”

Anton is passionate about living an active lifestyle, playing basketball, and enjoying snowboarding in BCs mountains. Originally from Ontario, Anton calls BC home and enjoys what the west coast has to offer. Prone to physical sport injury, strains, and day-to-day posture misalignment, Anton is dedicated to healing people with progressive therapeutic treatments and manual therapy as a way to achieve an active healthy lifestyle for his clients.

Anton’s treatment philosophy is to first establish the root cause of an ache, pain, or strain. Although treatment varies for each individual, he utilizes manual therapy techniques such as:

  • Neurokinetic Muscular Screen and Massage Therapy
  • Myofascial Release
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Soft Tissue Release
  • Trigger Points Therapy
  • Remedial Exercises

Anton enjoys working with the athletic therapy team at Trinity Western University and assisting in the treatment of the university’s national sport league teams in both pre and post matches for volleyball, basketball, and soccer.

Deanna Reimer, RMT

Deanna is available at Body Smart Health:

Wed: 4 pm – 8 pm
Mon, Tue and Thur: 9 am – 12 pm

“I have seen my fair share of cases whereby mental and emotional stress shows itself through physical dysfunction in the body. I know first-hand the value of massage therapy for the treatment of pregnancy as well as for related issues such as headaches, neck pain, low back strain, sciatica, and postpartum soft tissue/joint dysfunction. My primary goal is to help restore optimal function by addressing the underlying cause of the problem. Mindful that an individual’s tolerance and need varies, I provide personal treatment plans based on your specific needs.”

A mother of four children, Deanna specializes in women’s health issues during the child-bearing years as well as pediatric massage. Her primary goal is to help restore optimal function by addressing the cause of the problem. Her treatment techniques include:

John Reimer, RMT

John is available at Body Smart Health:

Mon: 1 pm – 4 pm                                                                                                                                                                                        Wed and Fri: 8 am – 3 pm                                                                                                                                                                            Tue and Thur: 1 pm – 8 pm                                                                                                                                                                                Sat: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

“I’m continuously amazed at how many people are not aware of the connections between one’s body and mind. We often take better care of our cars, than our bodies. As an educator, I feel compelled to explain how pain is not bad. It is something we need to respect and explore what it means to our body. By taking an all-encompassing holistic approach to health and wellness, I help my clients restore their body back to its optimal balance in body and mind. I’ve seen how people are disconnected and unaware of their body function. I want to help them connect again.”

His natural tendency to care and help others in attaining optimal health, along with his commitment as a competitive athlete looking to improve his performance, are two of the reasons why John is a registered massage therapist today.

To ensure he provides patients with the highest quality and standards of care, John is continually furthering his education to learn more massage techniques in the areas of osteopathic manual therapy, sport therapy, and rehabilitation. John has been in private practice since 1999 and has worked with the Massage Therapists Association of BC to develop and enhance the profession, as well as national, international, and community sporting groups and events.

A dedicated family man and husband, John finds his career as a RMT one of the most rewarding experiences in his life. He is honored to earn his client’s trust and to help them overcome physical limitations to improve their quality of life, work, and play.
